It is interesting how through Linda's language you start to adopt the view of the protagonist and almost see it as natural, even thought it is indeed some strange view of life in an imagined culture of the future.It is Linda's strength to have the process of change penetrate into this supposedly perfect life almost without notice. And then you start to be involved emotionally, as you secretly want humanness to enter into that lifeless perfection. Individualism, that appears as curiosity is indeed a human trait, with the power to change lives.

The author does an outstanding job of creating a believable futuristic reality without falling into the trap of over elaboration. As a reader, you quickly accept the Contract's tradeoffs, and get right into the characters' viewpoint. I hope this story represents the first in a series in this world, as I want to know more of what happens as Aldora continues to awaken to a messier, juicier, deeper way of life.
